Dior Couture S/S 15 |
Couture week has begun! The Musée Rodin tent was completely transformed into a kaleidoscope-like dream for Raf Simon's Dior Couture S/S 15 show. Models began strutting down the pink carpeted (helllooo 60s!) raised runway in flashy patent go-go boots paired with glitzy mini dresses and printed jumpsuits. While some of the looks were a miss (the sequined/striped jumpers), i especially loved the A-line dresses and the plastic overcoats. The hair and makeup paired well with the futuristic look, with the models wearing their hair slicked back into a pony with minimal makeup.

The Giambattista Valli Couture S/S 15 show kicked off with an all black ensemble with a little rock-roll fair we don't often see from Valli. With every look from then on paired with a sheer black polka-dotted headdress, one can see the 'sugar and spice' story going on throughout the collection. There is something so different about pairing sweet florals with a harsh headdress. It totally works. We also see a new pairing of skirts over pants in this collection, which is new for Valli. While there are many new elements to this collection, we still have the reoccurring 3D floral details we all know and love. I love this new direction for Valli, and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
