Ultra-Suede

From left to right: Emilio Pucci, Chloe, Fendi, Gucci, Chanel
If there was one thing to take away from the S/S 15 collections, its was that suede is one of the it materials of the season. It was seen on every runway from Chanel to Jason Wu. Even Anna Wintour was seen rocking the trend. Now thats when you know its here to stay. Street style stars and off-duty models have also taken a liking to the trend, giving us all the perfect style inspiration. From jackets to pants to tops, suede is so versatile and oh-so chic. The best thing about this material is that its so easy to incorporate into any outfit. Sooo many accesories come in suede, such as boots, hats and purses. Whatever you choose, it will definitely add a little tres chic to your outfit, and you probably already own it! But, its all about the suede clothes now, and you must add this amazing fabric to your wardrobe. With so many options now out on the market, its simple! Take notes from the bloggers, models and celebs below, and then go out and find yourself some suede. Of course i helped with some suggestions down below. Hope you enjoy!

Dior & Giambattista Valli Couture S/S 15 Couture

Dior Couture S/S 15
Couture week has begun! The Musée Rodin tent was completely transformed into a kaleidoscope-like dream for Raf Simon's Dior Couture S/S 15 show. Models began strutting down the pink carpeted (helllooo 60s!) raised runway in flashy patent go-go boots paired with glitzy mini dresses and printed jumpsuits. While some of the looks were a miss (the sequined/striped jumpers), i especially loved the A-line dresses and the plastic overcoats. The hair and makeup paired well with the futuristic look, with the models wearing their hair slicked back into a pony with minimal makeup.

The go-go boots from Dior

The Giambattista Valli Couture S/S 15 show kicked off with an all black ensemble with a little rock-roll fair we don't often see from Valli. With every look from then on paired with a sheer black polka-dotted headdress, one can see the 'sugar and spice' story going on throughout the collection. There is something so different about pairing sweet florals with a harsh headdress. It totally works. We also see a new pairing of skirts over pants in this collection, which is new for Valli. While there are many new elements to this collection, we still have the reoccurring 3D floral details we all know and love. I love this new direction for Valli, and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Clueless Moment

Who doesn't love a Clueless inspired outfit?
I didn't even notice how close it does resemble the iconic movie's fashion until a friend mentioned it. Just goes to show how much fashion does come back around! Between the thigh high boots and the checkered jacket, one can see 90s fashion reimagined into a new and more subdued style. Even Dionne's dress, last photo below, looks very similar to a certain Valentino F/W '13 dress (here). Love it.

Where to buy:
Jacket - Zara (now on sale!) here
Skirt - Forever 21 similar here
Boots: Guess here
Necklace - Zara (no longer available) similar here

How to bring some 90s style into your wardrobe:
1. The most simple way: collared shirts. Tuck them into some skinny jeans or a skirt and voila! Instant chicness
2. Checkered/plaid prints. Because nothing is more preppy and iconic. Whether it be a skirt or jacket, get some checkers or plaid into your wardrobe ASAP
3. Thigh-Highs: socks, boots, you name it. Pair some thigh-highs with a skirt like in the picture below, or wear them with semi-opaque tights for a more refined look

Thigh High Vibes

The thigh high boot has been quite popular these past couple seasons, and has been seen on nearly every street style star, celebrity, and model. No one can deny its sexy and chic qualities, and the fact that it can be paired with almost anything, from skirts to tights to pants. The search for the perfect thigh high sued boot began when i first set my eyes on the perfection that is the Stuart Weitzman 'Highland' Over the Knee Boot. With a not-so-perfect price point of $795, i knew there had to be at least something similar out there, and at a lower price. I knew i wanted suede, for it looked chic, and a chunky heel. So i started searching every department store website, and i mean every single one. It seemed like a hopeless mission, for every thigh high boot either had a thin, pencil like heel, or it was a flat boot. I finally hit the jackpot when i saw the GUESS 'Dandra' boot. It was just what i was looking for, with a sturdy, chunky heel, and a slim upper. Its safe to say I'm obsessed, and i can't wait to wear them!

Some tips on how to wear your thigh-high boot:
1. Keep the rest of your outfit loose and covered up
2. Stick to a simple color palette, for thigh high boots make quite a statement themselves
3. If you choose to wear a skirt, make sure it is not too short, and pair it with a looser top
4. Remember, proportions are key!

Winter Necessities: The Turtleneck

Warm, cozy, and fashionable, the turtleneck sweater is the ultimate winter accesory. Whether it is a chunky knit or sleek and fitted number, the turtleneck is the perfect layering piece in every women's wardrobe. Tuck it in to keep a nice silhouette, and keep the hair simple. I especially love when hair is tucked into the turtleneck, as seen above. With a chunky knit, i would suggest to keep the rest of the assemble sleek and tight. On the contrary, with a fitted knit, you can play a little more with proportions. Tell me how you like to wear your turtlenecks below!

All Hail OP

Has anyone honestly seen Olivia Palermo not looking absolutely flawless? Whether its at a posh event or walking the streets of NYC, Olivia always looks stunning. Her outfits are always on point, and seem effortless and undeniably chic. Who else could pull off leopard print pants, a polka dot oxford shirt, a cobalt blue jacket, and a magenta Hermes Birkin, all at one time? Only OP. What i especially admire about Olivia is that she matches low and high brands, often pairing Topshop and Zara clothing with Chanel and Dior accessories. Fabulous.

I am especially looking to OP for her exceptional winter style, as the temperatures drop dangerously low here in WNY! Brrr

Comeback of the Decade

Prada S/S '15 campaign featuring Gemma Ward

If any one knows me, they know I'm a die hard Gemma Ward fan. She was the first model i knew by name when i was younger, and truly inspired my love for fashion. Back when the "babydoll" look was huge in the early 2000s (cue in Sasha Pivovarova, Vlada Roslyakova, and Lily Cole) Gemma was the "It" girl, covering more than 30 Vogue covers around the world and walking for the likes of Prada and Valentino, to name a few. Then just as fast as she entered the industry, she left. I was devastated, to say the least. When i heard she was doing some small acting gigs (i may or may not have re-winded her brief stint in The Great Gatsby 10 times) i was hopeful that a comeback was still a possibility. Then, what may have been one of the best kept fashion secrets of ALL TIME, she opened for Prada's spring 2015 runway show. Tears were shed. Now, to top all the excitement off, Gemma is the face of Prada's Spring 2015 campaign. Shot by Steve Meisel, the campaign features Gemma in a dress from the collection as well as the wet, slicked back hair worn for the show. I can definitely say this ad will be the one to beat this season, and will for sure be hanging on my wall as soon as i can get my hands on it!

& if that's not enough Gemma for you, i dedicated an entire Pinterest board to her here :)

The Woman I Wanted To Be

I just recently started reading Diane Von Furstenberg's novel "The Woman I Wanted To Be" and am nothing but inspired by this amazing woman. I couldn't put the book down! Not only has she had the most AMAZING life (she was a princess.... hellooo!) but she was also driven and independent, even when she didn't necessarily need to be. While she admitted being a princess did help her get into contact with the right people, it was her designs that actually got her products sold. And sold millions they did. Her wrap dress is now iconic, her name is known around the world, and she's still the most beautiful woman in the room at age 68. With her new show on E!, "House of DVF", we get to see into her everyday life a little further, and it is as amazing as one can imagine. I mean, who didn't want to work there ever since Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port did in The City? The building itself is drool worthy. To learn more, i highly suggest reading her book! It won't disappoint.

ps. I finally found a new scent to love, Prada Candy L'eau! Its absolutely delicious smelling, and the bottle quite adorable itself.
